Here is tip number two from my favorite photography tips of the trade:

#2  Back to the eyes, catch lights are also the most important thing when doing portraits. Sometimes all it takes is turning the person around towards a window or a light source to take a good picture and make it great. Early on in my photography learning I would notice that I had gotten a good shot...but I didn't realize that it was because of the catch lights. Someone pointed it out and sure enough I have been able to remedy it ever since.
